If you think you’ve tried all the workouts out there but still can’t find one training style you like, or one that suits you best—think again. What’s trending might not always be the answer, but your Chinese Zodiac Sign might be!

Just in time for Chinese New Year, REBEL has rounded up a list of workouts according to the year you were born and your identifying personality traits:

Year of the Tiger (1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022)

Tigers are filled with energy and enjoy holding on to power and using it. REBEL recommends High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), a fast-paced and fat-burning workout to give that dynamism they crave for.

Year of the Rabbit (1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011)

Rabbits are known to be the homebodies of the Zodiac. They’re generally calm and appreciate peaceful routines, so we recommend Yoga, as it is slow, relaxing, and yet effective in building strength, flexibility, mobility, and endurance.

Year of the Dragon (1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012)

Dragons are naturally competitive yet charismatic, and they’re not one to bow down to power. We think Boxing, whether with a coach or through shadow punches and combinations will allow them to unleash their combative energy.

Year of the Snake (1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013)

Snakes are planners by nature and are determined to stick to their plans to achieve their goals—that’s why we recommend Running or even brisk walking. Planning your route and switching it up from time to time makes it all the more enjoyable!

Year of the Horse (1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014)

Horses, as one would imagine, are free-spirited and always up to explore new things. Try cycling—indoor and on a stationary bike lets you just ride to the rhythm of the music, while taking your bike to the great outdoors leaves lots of room for exploration.

Year of the Goat (1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015)

Goats are typically gentle and shy, yet they can be amicable too. For them, REBEL recommends trying out Pilates—it’s a low impact and controlled workout you can do on your own, with a reformer machine, or one-on-one with a trainer.

Year of the Monkey (1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016)

Monkeys are intelligent, creative, and always the first to look for something fun to do. Dance will suit them best, because whether it’s following along to choreography or making up their own moves, they’re sure to get their creative juices flowing.

Year of the Rooster (1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017)

Roosters are the perfectionists of the Chinese Zodiac, and because of this, they tend to be on the outspoken and boastful side. A good workout for them entails precision and focus, just as Jump Roping does.

Year of the Dog (1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018)

Dogs are loyal, cautious and fiercely protective. We recommend Low Impact Training (LIT), as it gives the same benefits as its more high intensity counterpart, while being mindful of the joints and ligaments.

Year of the Pig (1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019)

Pigs are kind, well-mannered, generous, and diligent, making them great when it comes to working with others. They would excel in team sports like basketball and football, and might enjoy group classes too.

Year of the Rat (1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020)

Rats are quick-witted and always up to explore. Because of their ever curious nature, they’re always game to try new things. We recommend Animal Flow for a switch in their usual workouts.

Year of the Ox (1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021)

Oxen are reliable and natural leaders. Because of their strength and confidence, they’re not afraid to push past their own limits, which is why we think Powerlifting is a perfect fit.
